Bulbine frutescens 'Yellow'

Bulbine, which originated in South Africa, grow in Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 8 through 11, where they have developed a high tolerance to drought conditions. This showy flower needs only a minimum amount of water to grow well. It also needs good drainage and a warm sunny site. Full sun exposure is ideal for this succulent, but they do tolerate light shade.

Interesting Notes

Leaf sap has medicinal properites, will ease burns, etc...Bulbine was named plant of the year by the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association in 2006.  


Growing and Maintenance Tips for

Locate them in a sunny to lightly shaded area of the garden in well drained soil and water weekly.  Once established, bulbine is very drought tolerant.
